Travis Manion Foundation Announces the 17th Annual 9/11 Heroes Run Race Series Sponsored by USAA
DOYLESTOWN, PA / ACCESSWIRE / June 17, 2024 / Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), one of the nation's leading veteran service organizations, will return to communities around the country for the 17th Annual 9/11 Heroes Run 5K Race Series dedicated to honoring those lost on September 11th, 2001 and in the wars following.
Held each September, the Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run series serves to unite our nation to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11, as well as honor our veterans, military, and first responders who serve our country and communities. The race series has expanded to more than 90 communities around the country with thousands of individuals participating at both in-person and virtual events.
"Each year, September 11th provides us an opportunity to gather as a nation and reflect on the lives we lost that day and in the wars that followed. The 9/11 Heroes Run is our opportunity to educate future generations about those who gave everything," said Ryan Manion, CEO, Travis Manion Foundation. "We are so grateful to have the support of USAA, a company who truly shares our commitment to remember our fallen heroes and ensure future generations never forget."
The 9/11 Heroes Run 5K series was inspired by Marine 1stLt Travis Manion, who was killed by an enemy sniper in Iraq in April 2007 as he selflessly pulled his wounded teammates to safety. Before his final deployment, Travis visited New York City Fire Department Rescue Company 1-a group known for losing almost all their members on 9/11-and gained an even deeper devotion to defending the country's freedom ahead of his return to Iraq. The 9/11 Heroes Run serves as a reminder for the nation to never forget the heroes of that day.
For the third consecutive year, USAA will serve as the National Title Sponsor of the race series.
"We are honored to support the Travis Manion Foundation's Heroes Runs because this event series not only pays tribute to our fallen heroes but also fosters a sense of community and resilience among participants," said Larry Williams, USAA VP of New Business Ventures & Innovation. "At USAA, we are committed to supporting our military families and veterans, and the Heroes Run embodies the spirit of service and dedication that we hold dear."
Registration is now open for each 9/11 Heroes Run across the country at https://www.travismanion.org/heroesrun.
