SOWITEC group: complete sale of the Hohfleck wind park to Stadtwerke Tübingen
Sonnenbühl, 22 June 2023 – SOWITEC group (SOWITEC), one of the leading developers of renewable energy projects in the wind and solar sectors, has successfully sold 100% of the shares in the Hohfleck wind park currently under development to Stadtwerke Tübingen (swt). Having already secured half of the shares in the project company last year, swt and its subsidiary for renewable energies, Ecowerk, have now also taken over the remaining 50%. This makes the wind park with a future total capacity of 21 MW the first swt-owned wind park in the region.
After the development, SOWITEC will also coordinate the entire construction and thus hand over the wind park to Ecowerk on a turnkey basis. The start of construction will still take place in 2023, as all preliminary work is carried out according to plan. The wind park will be built with five wind turbines of the type Vestas V126-3.6 MW with a hub height of 137 meters and a total height of 200 meters in the forest area between Sonnenbühl-Undingen and Engstingen. In the future, the wind park will produce enough electricity to supply over 10,000 households, while leading to CO2 savings of over 25,500 tons per year.
Stadtwerke Tübingen plans to make the Hohfleck wind park a citizens’ project and to offer citizens an opportunity to participate. The concrete offer will be announced after the completion of the wind park.
Frank Hummel, CEO of the SOWITEC group: “We are delighted about the successful sale of the Hohfleck wind park to a proven partner such as Stadtwerke Tübingen. It also marks the next important milestone in our strategic focus on the German market. Here, the ambitious climate targets of the German government and the urgent need to increase security of supply and independence from imports will lead to an accelerated expansion of renewable energy projects. We plan to develop a total of at least 300 MW of wind power and 200 MW of solar projects by 2028.”
About SOWITEC:
As one of the leading global project developers for renewable energies, SOWITEC is active in 13 countries with a focus on the rapidly growing emerging and developing countries.
