New administrative offices for the Swiss National Science Fund (SNSF) | TRON Research Building in Mainz | Large, sustainable housing development in Leipzig | New residential building in Munich | Contracts worth over CHF 160 million in total

Glattpark (Opfikon), 2 December 2024 – Implenia has won several attractive building construction contracts in Switzerland and Germany. All of them align well with the Group’s strategic focus on large and demanding projects, specialist skills and sustainability. In total, the contracts are worth more than CHF 160 million to Implenia.

Sustainable new administrative offices for the Swiss National Science Fund (SNSF) in Bern
Implenia, acting as total contractor, is about to build one of the most sustainable and innovative office buildings in Switzerland: the new SNSF administrative offices in the Bern district of WankdorfCity. This will provide a modern working environment for Switzerland’s most important institution fostering scientific research. The SNSF aims to achieve independent certification for the new building according to the Swiss Sustainable Construction Standard (SNBS) and its platinum quality seal. The energy balance of the building will be improved by using environmentally friendly, durable materials (native timber and recycled concrete). Building work starts in January 2025, and the approximately 350 employees of the SNSF are expected to move into their new workplace in 2027. New TRON research building for cutting-edge medical research in Mainz
Together with joint venture partners Gemünden and Apleona, Implenia (technical lead) has been commissioned to build the new, approximately 10,000 m2 TRON research building within the grounds of the Mainz University Medical Center. The construction order was placed following a pre-construction phase in which the joint venture partners had worked out the plans up to the building permit stage in close collaboration with the client. The total order is worth over EUR 100 million, of which Implenia has a share of almost EUR 40 million. Construction is scheduled to start this year and the new building should be ready for occupancy in 2027.
TRON is a translational research institute that develops new diagnostics and active ingredients for immunotherapeutic treatment of serious diseases. The new laboratory building, located close to the university, will enable researchers from all over the world to collaborate on advancing the development of outstanding, cutting-edge medicine.

Large, sustainable residential development in Leipzig
In a joint venture with its partner GP Papenburg, Implenia is building a seven- to eight-story residential development for municipal corporation LWB (Leipziger Wohnungs- und Baugesellschaft mbH). This will consist of nine contiguous properties offering a total of 202 apartments. The buildings will also provide commercial space and community areas. The services provided by Implenia include planning, development and turnkey construction of the buildings and outdoor facilities. The project is being planned and realised to create low energy buildings that meet the Effizienzhaus 55 standard. The roofs are greened and will be partially used as roof gardens. Construction work begins in January 2025 with completion planned for April 2027.

New residential building in Munich: social, accessible homes in a central location
Implenia is building three residential buildings in Munich for BayernHeim GmbH. The buildings will house a total of 101 apartments, a large part of which will be publicly funded rental apartments, plus a commercial unit for neighbourhood supply and two underground car parks. The apartments are designed to be accessible for disabled people. The services provided by Implenia include detailed building design, planning of outdoor facilities and turnkey construction of the entire project. Construction is scheduled to start in January 2025, and completion is planned for July 2026.

In addition, Implenia has won the contract to build another phase of a residential neighbourhood at an ongoing project in Heilbronn, and has been commissioned with the pre-construction phase of a large public building project in Siegburg.
