Eiffage wins a contract to manufacture 76 transition pieces for Baltic Power, Poland’s first offshore wind farm
Eiffage, through Smulders (Eiffage Métal’s Belgian subsidiary), has won the contract awarded by Baltic Power (joint venture of ORLEN and Northland Power) to design, manufacture and supply 76 transition pieces for its offshore wind farm to be built off the coast of Poland.
Eiffage Métal will begin manufacturing the secondary steels at its production facilities in Poland in January 2024. They will then be shipped to the United Kingdom for assembly of the transition pieces at its Newcastle site.
Baltic Power, Poland’s first offshore wind farm project, will have an average generating capacity of up to 1.2 GW p.a. and supply more than 1.5 million homes with sustainable energy. It is scheduled for commissioning in 2026.
This new contract sealed by Eiffage Métal via its Smulders subsidiary has cemented its position among the world’s leading providers of transition pieces for offshore wind facilities. The deals it has won recently include contracts to manufacture the secondary steelwork structures for 106 monopile foundations at the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms in Germany and to manufacture 62 transition pieces for the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier wind farm projects.
