CGRE AG publishes first Sustainability Report
- Sustainability strategy boosts the company's ESG performance
- Report creates transparency for shareholders and stakeholders
- The aim is to create climate-positive quarters
Leipzig, March 25, 2025 – Today CGREAG presented its first Sustainability Report for the year 2024. The real estate platform, which operates in Germany nationwide and is traded on the open market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, is thus assuming ecological and social responsibility and strengthening its commitment to sustainability and climate protection. The report under the guiding principle “Sustainable - Persistent - Pioneering” shows the measures that have been taken to reduce carbon emissions and describes the company's sustainability goals. It is based on the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which supports sustainable development worldwide. The report demonstrates CGREAG's sustainability performance.
The Supervisory Board took positive note of the Sustainability Report 2024: “CGREAG combines the economic success of the company with the fulfilment of social responsibility in reducing carbon emissions in the building sector. This is impressively demonstrated by this Sustainability Report and confirms my personal experience of working with the Executive Board of CGREAG,” said Günther H. Oettinger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CGREAG and former EU Commissioner.
Sustainability aspects already in the acquisition stage
CGREAG includes sustainability aspects in its considerations when making acquisition decisions. The company examines real estate investments to explore potential and avoid unnecessary costs. This ensures the acquisition of attractive properties that - after optimisation - remain marketable in the long term.
Jürgen Kutz, Executive Board of CGREAG, emphasises: “As a listed real estate platform, we have a special responsibility towards our business partners and society. Sustainability is a goal and a driving force for future company activities. Together, we are committed to shaping a more sustainable future.”
Comprehensive sustainability strategy
With its sustainability strategy, CGREAG is strengthening its focus on quarters that will be net-zero in operation. In line with the objectives of the project developments, CGREAG will aim to fulfil all relevant requirements of the EU taxonomy. The companyis focusing on the acquisition of stranded assets, the rapid completion of which will enable it to counteract waste and lack of living space. For this reason, CGREAG's first Sustainability Report focuses particularly on renewable energies, circular economy, prefabrication and creation of resilient properties.
“We have implemented innovative solutions to minimise our environmental footprint while maximising value for our shareholders. Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us, but an integral part of our company strategy and our daily actions,” says Ronald Pofalla, Chairman Executive Board of CGREAG.
Responsibility and transparency
Skilled corporate governance is the basis for the sustainable growth and long-term success of CGRE AG. Clear guidelines have been established to ensure transparency, integrity and accountability in all areas of the company. The employees make a significant contribution to the company's success. CGREAG also stands for strong company-wide compliance, in which compliant behaviour is a matter of course for all employees.
In addition, a transparent communication with shareholders and stakeholders is prioritised. Regular reports and open communication are intended to build trust and make our progress in the area of sustainability comprehensible.
