«Aiming High»: the documentary about the «Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening» ski race is coming to cinemas near you

• Following its successful premiere at the Zurich Film Festival, the documentary «Aiming High – A Race Against the Limits» will be released in cinemas on 9 January 2025.
• Over a period of around two years, the film crew accompanied the local organising committee during the preparation for the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening, which was marked by many ups and downs.
• In personal interviews, top athletes like Marco Odermatt, Lara Gut-Behrami, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Corinne Suter, Jasmine Flury and Mauro Caviezel share their individual expectations, hopes and impressions in the run-up to the races.
• The documentary was made by Filmgerberei in collaboration with MySports and supported by Sunrise.

Following its successful premiere at the Zurich Film Festival last October, «Aiming High» is once again hitting the big screen to the delight of fans. From 9 January 2025, audiences at Pathé cinemas, blue cinemas and various regional cinemas will be thrilled by the emotional story and breathtaking backdrop of the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening. You’ll find an overview of the cinemas showing the documentary and the times here. This list will be updated on an ongoing basis.

Right in the middle of the ski season, we’re showing the public what goes into organising an alpine ski race to enable elite athletes to compete. A roller-coaster ride of emotions

An emotional look behind the scenes: the 90-minute documentary takes viewers on a journey that sees them follow the organising committee from the summer of 2022 as they plan a ski race at an altitude of 3,800 metres – it was set to take place across the border between Switzerland and Italy for the first time.

The film impresses with breathtaking shots of the Valais mountain range and is defined by intense emotions like euphoria, uncertainty and powerlessness, to name a few. The documentary offers insights into the challenges of the race, which had to be cancelled in the 2022/2023 season due to a lack of snow and in 2023/2024 due to strong winds.

The documentary also focuses on the world’s leading World Cup athletes. Personal interviews and moving moments, such as the comeback and retirement of Mauro Caviezel, but also very personal moments featuring Lara Gut-Behrami or Marco Odermatt round off the film. This close personal link to the protagonists creates a captivating narrative and invites audiences to go on an emotional and thought-provoking journey.
