Vonovia Partners with EnerCube and DFA for Heat Pump Cube Initiative

Vonovia SE, EnerCube GmbH, and DFA Demonstrationsfabrik Aachen GmbH have announced a strategic partnership to bring Heat Pump Cubes into industrial production. The plan will facilitate heating for apartment buildings using this innovative system, ultimately reducing dependence on fossil fuels. By 2029, over 1,000 Cubes will be manufactured and deployed across Vonovia's neighborhoods in Germany, catering to over 20,000 residential units.

The Heat Pump Cube, a creation of the Austrian start-up EnerCube, offers a compact heating system by integrating essential components into a singular cube. Designed for areas lacking district heating connections, this system supports climate‑neutral heating, improving operational costs and supporting the transition to sustainable energy.

The initiative has gained governmental support, with Mona Neubaur, North Rhine-Westphalia's Economic Affairs Minister, acknowledging its potential to support climate-friendly heating standards statewide. The pilot phase in Donauwörth reported success with energy savings reaching 40%.
