Vallourec Achieves 19% Reduction in Carbon Footprint Over Four Years

Vallourec, a leader in seamless tubular solutions, announced a significant reduction in its carbon footprint, achieving a 19% decrease over the past four years. As of 2023, the company reported a carbon footprint of 1.45 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per tonne of tube produced, down from 1.79 tonnes in 2019. This achievement sets a new benchmark in the industry, certified by EPD International AB, a Swedish Environmental Research Institute subsidiary.
Vallourec's strategy includes utilizing 98% recycled scrap and 100% low-carbon electricity at its U.S. steel mill. In Brazil, biomass charcoal is used as a coke substitute, and 98% of electricity comes from renewable sources. Globally, over 90% of the company's electricity is low-carbon, and 61% of its steel is recycled. These efforts align with Vallourec’s goal to reduce carbon intensity by 35% by 2035, based on 2021 levels.
