USU Completes AutoQML Research Project

USU, in collaboration with seven partners, has completed the AutoQML research project. Funded by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, this initiative merged automated machine learning (AutoML) techniques with quantum computing capabilities. An open-source platform was developed to make this advanced technology more accessible for businesses.

AutoML aims to automate AI model development and, with quantum computing, enhance efficiency and performance. The platform offers a modular library incorporating both classical and quantum methods, usable without deep technical knowledge.

USU's role involved software architecture and user-friendly solutions, enabling medium-sized enterprises to adopt complex technologies. Use cases, such as quality control and predictive maintenance, demonstrated that AutoQML models often outperform traditional methods with less effort.

The project consortium included Fraunhofer Institutes IAO and IPA, GFT Integrated Systems, IAV GmbH, KEB Automation KG, TRUMPF, and Zeppelin GmbH, establishing a foundation for quantum AI in industry.
