Uber Withdraws from Taiwan foodpanda Acquisition

Delivery Hero SE has announced that Uber Technologies has terminated its agreement to acquire the foodpanda business in Taiwan. This decision follows the Taiwanese regulatory authorities' refusal, including the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission, to approve the deal. Additionally, the appeals period has expired.

The initial agreement, signed on May 14, 2024, requires Uber to pay a termination fee estimated at around USD 250 million. Delivery Hero emphasizes that Taiwan remains integral to its long-term strategy, and it is committed to supporting foodpanda in the region.

Despite this setback, Delivery Hero, headquartered in Berlin, maintains its position as a leading local delivery platform, operating in 70 countries across various continents and continues its focus on improving user experience.
