TotalEnergies Announces First Oil Production at Eldfisk North in Norway
TotalEnergies disclosed the commencement of its first oil production at the Eldfisk North Project, situated in the Greater Ekofisk Area of the North Sea. The project, operational ahead of schedule, showcases advancements in the use of existing infrastructure which favorably impacts costs and emissions. The development, commanded by ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS, includes TotalEnergies EP Norge AS, Vår Energi ASA, Sval Energi AS, and Petoro AS as partners.
The project involves three subsea templates with a potential of up to 14 wells, aimed at producing 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at peak capacity. Initiated after approvals in December 2022, the project benefits from its location, effective cooperation among companies, and strategic utilization of Eldfisk's existing processing facilities. Moreover, it emphasizes sustainability with remarkably low greenhouse gas emissions.
The Eldfisk North Project has also significantly contributed to the local economy by creating 4,000 to 4,500 jobs, with over 80% of the contract value awarded to Norwegian companies, underlining TotalEnergies’ commitment to supporting local industry.
