The 'Toolbelt Generation' Embraces WyoTech for Trade Education

WyoTech, a leading trade school in Laramie, Wyoming, observes a surge in Gen Z enrollment. The younger generation is turning to trade education, exploring alternatives to traditional four-year degrees. This shift addresses the deficit of trades workers in America.

Historically, high school graduates were encouraged toward four-year universities. This created a shortage in tradespeople as older generations retired without replacements. Gen Z challenges this norm, considering trades as viable career paths due to the rising cost of university education.

A New American Study reveals that many Gen Z individuals see technical education as a gateway to stable, well-paying jobs without needing a degree. WyoTech supports this trend, boasting high graduation and employment rates. In 2023, they graduated 804 students with an 85% rate, and 77% found employment in their field.

WyoTech’s president, Kyle Morris, emphasizes the importance of matching career outcomes with education. He views trades as critical for future infrastructure and encourages the next generation to embrace these careers. WyoTech's enrollment growth underscores this promising opportunity.
