Thailand Advances $29 Billion in Digital and Clean Energy Projects
In a strategic move, Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) has approved six key projects worth approximately $29 billion, enhancing the country's position as a regional tech hub. TikTok System (Thailand) Co., Ltd. leads with a substantial data infrastructure expansion valued at around $25 billion. This project will develop data storage across Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Chachoengsao Province.
The BOI, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, also ratified projects under the Thailand FastPass mechanism, aiming to expedite project deployment. Initiatives focus on bolstering electricity readiness and clean energy access, essential for attracting tech investments. This includes developing renewable energy mechanisms and enhancing energy supply frameworks.
