Thailand’s NACC Concludes High-Profile Corruption Case Involving Former Oil Executives

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) of Thailand has declared four former executives of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) guilty of corruption, collusion, and bribery. This verdict connects to their involvement in irregularities surrounding the Arthit Offshore Gas Field Project. Triggered by disclosures from the international investigation into Rolls-Royce, the NACC leveraged global cooperation to unravel the specifics of the case, which involve transnational bribery and procedural misconduct within PTTEP between 2004 and 2008.

Key investigations findings reveal PTTEP officials strategically bypassing standard procedures to award lucrative contracts to certain vendors, including Rolls-Royce, under deceitful circumstances. The malpractice included roughly $300,000 in bribes associated with the gas turbine procurements, leading to severe criminal charges against the implicated individuals. Unfortunately, due to the passing of one of the executives, some legal actions have been curtailed.
