Thailand Introduces Anti-Corruption Education Curriculum for Youth
In a significant move to combat corruption, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) of Thailand has launched an Anti-Corruption Education curriculum aimed at educating the nation's youth on integrity and societal values. Recognizing the impact of corruption on national development, especially in developing nations, NACC seeks to address this pervasive issue from the roots by instilling values of morality and integrity in children from an early age.
According to Mr. Niwatchai Kasemmongkol, the Secretary-General of NACC, corruption's evolving nature calls for a new approach in which educating the younger generation plays a critical role. The curriculum is designed to foster a culture of 'zero tolerance' against corruption, equipping Thai children with the knowledge and understanding necessary to distinguish between right and wrong, and to contribute to a society that values sufficiency, discipline, and integrity.
The curriculum encompasses five comprehensive courses tailored for various educational levels, including basic and higher education, as well as specialized courses for government agencies like the military and police. To enhance teaching efficacy, NACC has amalgamated learning materials from both domestic and international sources. Moreover, an Anti-Corruption Education Platform has been developed, facilitating e-learning through diverse devices and an innovative Virtual Museum for online learning.
This initiative not only aims at educating the youth but also seeks broader societal change by prompting a shift in the mindset of citizens towards a collective effort in combating corruption. The success of this ambitious initiative relies on the collaboration between NACC and educational institutions across Thailand.
