SustainableIT.org Partners with ServiceNow to Set New Sustainability Standards in Enterprise Technology

SustainableIT.org, a pioneering non-profit organization integrating sustainability into technology practices, has announced a strategic partnership with ServiceNow. This collaboration aims to implement rigorous standards guiding enterprise operations and business strategies toward more sustainable practices on a larger scale.

As digital services expand globally, the importance of IT sustainability has risen. With businesses racing to adopt generative AI technologies, SustainableIT.org and ServiceNow will provide tools to manage data aligned with sustainability standards. The initiative includes metrics for monitoring and reducing emissions and resource usage.

The standards will be available via a new ServiceNow app, compatible with ServiceNow’s Environmental, Social, Governance Management (ESGM) and Hardware Asset Management applications. Major utility company National Grid has already committed to adopting these standards, viewing them as pivotal for aligning IT operations with sustainability goals.

ServiceNow's senior director, Poonam Kripalani, emphasized the shared vision for a sustainable, equitable, and ethical world, highlighting the importance of their ESG strategy. Josh Harbert, president of SustainableIT.org, is confident this partnership will drive further initiatives to empower technology leaders in sustainability.

The standards represent a major step toward a sustainable digital future. SustainableIT.org and ServiceNow invite other organizations to join in transforming business operations to achieve significant sustainability impacts. These metrics and standards are now available in the ServiceNow Store.
