STMicroelectronics launches an innovative microcontroller for the automotive industry

STMicroelectronics has unveiled the Stellar P3E, the first automotive microcontroller with an AI accelerator for embedded intelligence applications. This device aims to integrate intelligent functionalities in real time, simplifying the integration of multifunctional electronics in vehicles. With AI efficiency 30 times greater, this microcontroller enables predictive maintenance and intelligent sensing, reducing the need for multiple sensors.

The Stellar P3E includes the "Neural-ART Accelerator™", an innovative embedded neural network accelerator. It delivers real-time performance thanks to its dedicated neural processing unit. Designed for software-defined vehicles, it supports advanced functions without the significant thermal overhead of a full SoC.

The unit also offers innovative expandable memory based on PCM technology, doubling the density compared to traditional components and enabling software scalability without the need for hardware changes. Production will begin in late 2026.
