South Star Battery Metals Announces BamaStar Project Growth
South Star Battery Metals Corp. has announced significant findings from their Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the BamaStar Project in Alabama, USA. The assessment reports a pre-tax Net Present Value (NPV) of USD 2.4 billion with a 35% Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and a post-tax NPV of USD 1.6 billion with a 27% IRR. The project anticipates a 19-year mine life with gross revenue of USD 9.9 billion. First production is scheduled for 2027.
The project includes the development of a mine and concentrator plant in Coosa County and a value-add upgrading facility in Mobile. The PEA highlights an expected production of 50,000 tonnes per year of natural flake graphite concentrate and a total of 61,800 tonnes of upgraded products, including 38,000 tonnes of coated spherical purified graphite (CSPG).
Environmental permitting and licensing are underway, following successful preliminary results that align with Tier-1 commercial graphite products. South Star plans to complete a detailed feasibility study within 18 months to further the project's development.
