Safran Enters Exclusive Talks to Acquire AI Firm Preligens

Safran has entered exclusive discussions to acquire Preligens, a leader in artificial intelligence for aerospace and defense. The proposed acquisition values Preligens at 220 million euros.

Founded in 2016, Preligens specializes in AI analytics for high-end imagery, full motion video, and acoustic signals. Its technology, which includes the unique "AI Factory," enhances situational awareness and decision-making for military clients. In 2023, Preligens reported sales of 28 million euros and employs around 220 staff, including 140 in R&D.

This acquisition aims to bolster Safran’s AI capabilities and digital transformation, particularly in Manufacturing 4.0. Safran plans to expand Preligens' international footprint, especially in the U.S. market.

The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and consultations, with a closing expected in Q3 2024.
