European Circular Textile Coalition Advocates for Waste-Free Textile Economy

On October 14, 2025, Reju and 11 other companies in the textile value chain launched the European Circular Textile Coalition's manifesto. The initiative seeks a fully circular textile economy, urging the European Union to transform textile waste into new opportunities for jobs and innovation. With Europe producing 12.6 million tonnes of textile waste annually and only 1% being recycled, the coalition's goal is timely.

The coalition emphasizes that textile waste should not be inevitable and calls for urgent EU regulation paired with investment in transformative systems. Their three-pronged approach prioritizes a competitive European textile chain, advanced textile-to-textile recycling, and setting mandatory recycled content targets in textiles.

Reju's CEO, Patrik Frisk, highlights the need for binding standards to stimulate demand for recycled materials, as voluntary measures have been insufficient. They are embarking on an advocacy tour to mobilize policymakers and industry stakeholders.
