Pearl Certification to Incorporate New National Definition of a Zero-Emissions Building

Pearl Certification, a leader in home-energy efficiency certification, will integrate the U.S. Department of Energy's zero-emissions definition into its certification standards. This move aligns with its mission to support homeowners in achieving and being recognized for meeting these ambitious criteria.

According to Robin LeBaron, president and co-founder, the new definition aims to identify buildings that are highly energy efficient, all-electric, and powered solely by clean energy. This definition removes ambiguity and is practical for both standard homeowners and low-income families.

Pearl has already certified several zero-emission and nearly zero-emission homes, like that of the Chambers family in Charlottesville, VA. These homes leverage energy-efficient features and renewable systems, keeping utility bills low and meeting new zero-emissions standards.
