OPmobility to Equip Chinese Rail Giant CRRC's Hydrogen-Powered Trams
OPmobility, through its joint venture PO-Rein, has secured a contract with CRRC (China Railway Rolling Stock Corp.) MRT Holding Group to supply high-pressure hydrogen storage systems. This marks the first time a market player introduces this technology for mobility applications in China.
The contract involves supplying 76 type 4 hydrogen storage systems, with deliveries starting by the end of 2024. The systems will be implemented in smart trams operating in Kuching, Malaysia. These trams, fully autonomous and requiring minimal infrastructure, are refueled in 10 minutes, travel up to 245 km, and carry over 300 passengers.
Additionally, OPmobility, Shenergy Group, and CRRC MRT Holding Group signed a memorandum to develop high-end hydrogen storage solutions for the rail sector. This partnership aims to combine expertise for efficient on-board hydrogen storage solutions.
