NuRAN Signs NaaS Agreement with MTN Group for 250 Sites

NuRAN Wireless Inc. has announced a five-year Network-As-A-Service (NaaS) agreement with MTN Group for the deployment of 250 sites in Africa. This agreement is part of a broader Group Framework Agreement (GFA) with MTN, initially announced in July 2022. The contract is valued at approximately US $27 million over five years and can be renewed for an additional five-year term.

This is the fifth agreement between NuRAN and MTN, totaling 2,150 sites across five nations. The revenue-sharing model anticipates gross revenues based on an analysis of potential site revenue, influenced by factors such as satellite bandwidth costs, site leases, and maintenance fees. The projects will support 2G and 3G networks, targeting various population densities and coverage areas. Upon completion, NuRAN retains ownership of the infrastructure, enhancing the contract's overall value.

The company aims to finance these deployments via asset-based project funding or debt-oriented facilities. Discussions on financing options are currently ongoing for efficient deployment.
