Nordex Group to Introduce N169/5.X Turbine to the US Market
Hamburg, 22 July 2024—The Nordex Group is set to expand its product roster in the 5 MW segment by launching the N169/5.X turbine, tailored for the US market. This model features a 169-meter rotor diameter and a power rating of up to 5.5 megawatts.
The N169/5.X is designed for regions with low to medium wind speeds and minimal turbulence. José Luis Blanco, CEO of Nordex Group, highlighted that this turbine is a strategic move to bolster their presence in North America. Using proven components from their 5 MW class, the N169/5.X aims to increase yield for grid-constrained projects.
Manav Sharma, CEO of Nordex North America, noted that the N169/5.X aligns with the expected market growth in the US. The company’s local supply chain and compliance with the Inflation Reduction Act will ensure production meets local content requirements.
Manufacture of the N169/5.X and the N163 turbine will take place in West Branch, Iowa, starting in 2026.
