NioCorp and IBC Cast Aluminum-Scandium Alloy for Potential Expansion

NioCorp Developments Ltd. and IBC Advanced Alloys have successfully produced a 0.2% aluminum-scandium alloy at IBC's foundry in Franklin, Indiana. Verified by an independent lab, the alloy met target specifications, advancing the companies' efforts in scandium applications. This production signifies readiness for custom part fabrication, with potential applications across aerospace, automotive, electronics, and defense sectors.

NioCorp and IBC's joint effort could lead to a reliable domestic scandium supply chain, a crucial step given the global limited supply, primarily from China. NioCorp plans scandium oxide production alongside niobium and titanium at its Elk Creek Project in Nebraska, subject to financing. This development could reduce U.S. reliance on foreign producers for these critical materials.
