A recent study by Nextdoor, in collaboration with The Harris Poll, emphasizes the significance of local connections in communities. It reveals that 74% of Americans consider friendly neighborhood interactions crucial to avoiding feelings of isolation, a sentiment that intensifies among Nextdoor users to 80%. The survey also highlights a strong desire among Americans to forge closer ties with their neighbors, with 71% keen on meeting more people in their locality and 50% wishing for a closer relationship with their neighbors.

The insights further demonstrate that 85% of Nextdoor users are comfortable seeking local recommendations from neighbors, showcasing the platform’s role in enhancing community engagement. Additionally, 79% of users are more inclined to support businesses recognized as a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite, indicating the impact of local endorsements on consumer behavior. The report underscores how "Local" encompasses both a geographical area and a sense of community belonging, with more than half of the survey participants (54%) resonating with this dual definition.
