Nexans invests in a new copper recycling plant in France
Nexans announces an investment of more than €90 million to build a copper production and recycling plant in Lens, France, by 2026. This project aims to meet the growing demand for copper, essential for global electrification. In partnership with Continuus Properzi, a specialist in continuous casting technologies, the plant will increase its production capacity by more than 50% and will enable the recycling of 80,000 tons of copper per year.
This development is part of Nexans' strategy to increase the use of recycled copper, with a target of 30% by 2030. The plant will also contribute to the circular economy by reintegrating copper waste into new products, while strengthening Nexans' industrial presence in France and creating jobs. The initiative, aligned with the France 2030 plan, consolidates Nexans' strategic independence in the face of the scarcity of raw materials.
