Newsmax Settles Defamation Lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems

Newsmax Inc. has announced a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, ending a defamation lawsuit filed in 2021. The $67 million settlement will be paid over three fiscal years. Initially, Dominion sought $1.6 billion in damages, claiming Newsmax made defamatory statements during the 2020 presidential election coverage.

Newsmax has consistently defended its reporting as fair and within journalistic standards, but expressed concerns about receiving a fair trial under Judge Eric Davis in Delaware. The company cited several rulings that hindered its defense, contributing to its decision to settle.

Despite disagreeing with the court's proceedings, Newsmax emphasized that the resolution allows it to refocus on its mission of delivering accurate reporting and facilitating open dialogue. The company plans to fund the settlement through revenues without disrupting operations or growth strategy.
