NACC Thailand Bolsters Anti-Bribery Efforts With ISO 37001 Adoption

The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in Thailand has declared its commitment to fight corruption, specifically bribery, by integrating ISO 37001 standards amidst advancing digitalization. This move underscores the country's effort to align with global practices in tackling the pervasive issue of corruption, which, according to the World Bank, annually costs upwards of US$1 trillion or 3% of global GDP.

ISO 37001, known for its international recognition in anti-bribery management, offers a comprehensive framework applicable across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. By encouraging its adoption, Thailand aims to fortify its internal controls and compliance programs against bribery. This initiative is supported by the amendment of the Organic Act on Anti-Corruption, B.E. 2561 (2018), which includes stringent penalties for bribery involving juristic persons.

Furthermore, the establishment of the Anti-Bribery Advisory Service (ABAS) signifies NACC’s dedication to operationalizing these standards through the distribution of guidelines and resources for effective bribery prevention within business practices. This proactive approach not only demonstrates Thailand's commitment to global anti-corruption standards but also offers a structured path for organizations nationwide to enhance their anti-bribery measures.
