Ministerial visit to Metabolic Explorer to address competitive access to sugar

On April 8, 2024, Metabolic Explorer (METEX), a Clermont-based company operating in the industrial fermentation sector, received Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate in charge of Industry and Energy. This visit, scheduled to the METEX Amiens factory, had the main aim of discussing the modalities aimed at guaranteeing access to sugar at a competitive price. Benjamin Gonzalez, president and CEO of METEX, highlighted the economic challenges faced by the company, exacerbated by rising raw material costs.

During this meeting, the efforts of the public authorities to support METEX in the face of international competition and price increases were discussed, particularly with regard to the dumping of lysine by Chinese producers. The event marked recognition of the importance of preserving French production and innovation capacity, as well as the know-how of METEX's 450 employees.
