Michael H. McGarry, proposed new member for Holcim's board of directors

Holcim announced the nomination of Michael H. McGarry, former chairman and CEO of PPG Industries, as a new independent member of its board of directors. This election is scheduled for the Annual General Meeting of Holcim on May 8, 2024. All other members are candidates for their own succession. Jan Jenisch is also nominated for re-election as chairman of the board.

If accepted, McGarry's appointment would bring the number of Holcim board members to ten, nine of which are independent according to the Swiss Code of Best Practices for Corporate Governance. McGarry, a United States citizen, is recognized as a global business leader having led PPG Industries, a leading specialty coatings company. Under his leadership, PPG Industries has experienced a significant portfolio transformation, reporting net sales of $18.2 billion in 2023.

McGarry's career at PPG Industries, which began in 1981 as an engineer, illustrates a diverse career and deep expertise, qualities valued by Holcim to enrich its board of directors.
