Meyer Burger Adopts Short-Time Work Due to Material Shortages

Meyer Burger Technology AG has announced the introduction of short-time work at its solar cell plant in Thalheim, Germany, effective May 1, 2025. This decision, made jointly by management and the works council, affects approximately 300 employees formerly engaged in continuous high-performance solar cell production. The measure aims to alleviate immediate cost pressures caused by temporary material shortages.

The material bottlenecks have also impacted production processes at Meyer Burger's U.S. facility in Goodyear, Arizona. Production now alternates daily with technical work during the plant's ramp-up phase. The company is preparing further workforce adjustments to manage costs effectively.
