Metall Zug Faces Challenges in First Half of 2025

Metall Zug announced its results for the first half of 2025, highlighting various challenges. Net sales fell to CHF 94.2 million from CHF 181.2 million the previous year, impacted by the divestment effect of Belimed, which accounted for CHF 82.1 million of the decline. Even after adjusting for this, there was an organic decrease. The EBIT worsened to CHF -12.6 million, reflecting difficulties in strategic investments.

The company, however, marked the launch of three innovative products by its subsidiary Haag-Streit. This includes the world's first hybrid-digital slit lamp, Elara 900, designed to enhance efficiency with Swiss optics and digital capabilities.

Metall Zug's integration of SteelcoBelimed is progressing with early synergy realization, particularly in purchasing. Additionally, despite an uncertain market, the Medical Devices Business Unit and Gehrig Group showed improvements in order intake.

Looking ahead, the firm anticipates ongoing macroeconomic challenges but expects stability in sales and operating results in the latter half of the year.
