Medicure Expands U.S. Pharmacy Reach with West Olympia Acquisition

Medicure Inc., a pharmaceutical company targeting the U.S. market, has announced a definitive agreement to buy West Olympia Pharmacy Inc. for USD $975,000 through its U.S. subsidiary, Medicure Pharma Inc. The purchase aligns with Medicure's strategic plan to expand its direct-to-consumer pharmacy business. West Olympia, based in Washington, reported approximately USD $6.8 million in revenue for 2024.

This acquisition follows the recent purchase of Gateway Pharmacy, furthering Medicure's commitment to increase product access, including ZYPITAMAG®, a cholesterol-lowering medication. The transaction will be financed through existing cash reserves without requiring additional debt.

Medicure emphasizes that the closing of the transaction depends on fulfilling several conditions, such as obtaining necessary transfers of agreements and licenses. This acquisition is a step forward in Medicure's growth strategy in the competitive U.S. healthcare market.
