Manitou and Hangcha Announce Joint Venture for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Ancenis, July 17, 2025 — Manitou Group and Hangcha Group have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture focused on manufacturing and distributing lithium-ion batteries in France. This initiative awaits approval from European competition authorities.

The collaboration aims to offer solutions for upgrading lead-acid vehicle batteries with lithium-ion alternatives, enhancing vehicle lifespan. This move aligns with Manitou's "LIFT" roadmap to boost electric offerings, targeting 28% of units sold by 2030. The joint venture will operate independently, leveraging Hangcha's expertise in battery manufacturing to boost production capabilities.

Located in Le Mans, the venture plans to hire various professionals, supported by local authorities and economic agency Solutions & Co, with recruitment facilitated by Le Mans Metropole.
