Karbon-X Boosts Forest Conservation in Colombia's Meta Region

Karbon-X Corp. is advancing its forest conservation efforts in Colombia's Meta region through the REDD+ Sur del Meta Project. This initiative, covering 40,637 hectares, focuses on safeguarding forests and promoting sustainable living for nearly 1,000 local families. It operates in municipalities like Vistahermosa and Puerto Rico, areas historically affected by deforestation.

The project supports local farmers, transitioning them from cattle ranching to sustainable agricultural practices. This involves climate-smart cultivation of cacao, coffee, and citrus, paired with technical training and biodiversity protection.

A new phase aims to enhance carbon and biodiversity monitoring. Over 100 plots track forest health, with camera traps documenting recovering wildlife, including endangered species. Community-led governance is also being reinforced to ensure equitable management and benefit distribution.
