Jungfrau Railway Group Reports CHF 28.9 Million Profit Amid Challenges

Jungfraubahn Holding AG has reported a profit of CHF 28.9 million for the first half of 2026, despite facing challenging conditions. The conflict in Iran significantly impacted visitor numbers from Asia to the Jungfrau Railway Group's destinations, causing a drop in transportation revenues to CHF 97.6 million, an 8.9% decrease compared to the previous year. Operating income also fell by 8.6% to CHF 137 million. However, reduced electricity prices and cost-control measures allowed a 4.6% reduction in operating expenses.

Despite these challenges, the group achieved an EBITDA of CHF 56.8 million and recorded a free cash flow increase of 12.1%, reaching CHF 18.7 million. Visitor frequencies declined, with notable decreases in the Experience Mountains and Jungfraujoch sectors, partly due to maintenance closures. The company responded to the shifting market dynamics by capitalizing on a diverse visitor base and enhancing average income per guest in certain areas.
