Implenia wins Sisikon tunnel project in central Switzerland
Implenia, together with Frutiger, has won the tender for the Sisikon tunnel, a key project of the new Axen road. The total order reaches CHF 430 million, including CHF 250 million for Implenia.
The heart of the project is a 4.4 km single-tube road tunnel with two-way traffic. Implenia and Frutiger will carry out the excavation using explosives. Service galleries, avoidance areas, ventilation centers and air wells will complete the work.
The project demonstrates Implenia's expertise in complex infrastructure. Around 2 million tonnes of materials will be evacuated by boat for a natural rehabilitation project in Flüelen.
The decision is subject to an appeal period until the end of July 2024. The work will begin in mid-2025 and will be completed in 2034.
