IDEAL Semiconductor Advances Battery Safety with SuperQ™ MOSFETs

iDEAL Semiconductor has unveiled a new SuperQ™ MOSFET technology designed to enhance safety and efficiency in high-voltage battery management systems. This 150V/2.5mΩ device offers superior short-circuit withstand capability (SCWC), a critical metric for BMS discharge switches, reducing component requirements by up to 50% in systems operating above 72V.

The innovation addresses the challenges posed by high-voltage batteries, prevalent in e-mobility and power tools, where short-circuit currents can soar. The SuperQ™ platform ensures high robustness without compromising on low resistance, thereby increasing performance compared to competitors. A proprietary cell structure facilitates this balance.

SuperQ devices promise cost savings and efficiency, requiring fewer MOSFETs and minimizing conduction losses. Available up to 200V, they cater to systems from 72V upwards, setting a new industry standard for safety and reliability.
