AI Innovation Aids Conservation of Endangered White-headed Langur

The white-headed langur, a critically endangered primate found in Guangxi, China, has seen a population increase from over 300 in the 1980s to more than 1,400 today. This recovery results from an AI-powered monitoring system covering 20 stations in the Guangxi Chongzuo Nature Reserve, which has recorded 37,200 instances of langur activity. The system aids research and conservation efforts by providing crucial data.

Efforts include the restoration of 77.6 hectares of habitat, construction of water sources, and the development of ecological corridors. These initiatives are part of a legal framework supporting conservation.
