Henry George School of Social Science Plans Unique Earth Day 2024 Celebration
The Henry George School of Social Science (HGSSS) has announced plans for an Earth Day event titled 'Sound Economics: Celebrating Earth Day 2024 Through Art, Music, and Economics'. Scheduled for April 18, 2024, in New York, the event is designed to blend art, music, and economic discussions to emphasize the importance of environmental awareness and the implications of climate change.
The evening will feature musical vignettes that highlight the economic aspects of climate risks, including a special performance of Stephen Kennedy Murphy’s adaptation of Schubert’s "The Miller's Daughter". In addition, a Climate Change art exhibition by Tony Cruz, a renowned graffiti artist from the Bronx, will display vibrant artworks addressing climate change. The event will include a panel discussion with artists, led by HGSSS board member and climate change specialist Dr. Willi Semmler, with closing remarks on "Climate Risks and Future Ethics" by Professor Chris Horn.
Intended to foster a deeper understanding of the intersections between economics and environmental issues, this innovative event invites registered guests to explore through art and music the urgent need for action against climate change. Registration for the event is open online at the HGSSS website.
