HDF Energy and ABB join forces for maritime decarbonization

HDF Energy and ABB are partnering to develop a multi-MW hydrogen fuel cell dedicated to the maritime sector. This strategic agreement aims to design, certify, and commercialize this clean propulsion technology, intended to reduce ship emissions by using green hydrogen.

The partnership focuses on creating a scalable solution to power various types of vessels. HDF Energy will lead the design and manufacturing of the fuel cells, while ABB will handle their integration. This project falls under the European IPCEI initiative, financially supported by the French government, and also targets the Asia-Pacific market.

This collaboration reflects a strategic shift towards more sustainable solutions, promoting zero-emission maritime transportation and reducing the sector's carbon footprint.
