Harvard Business School analyzes the Tony Elumelu Foundation's innovative approach to philanthropy

Harvard Business School has published a case study on the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), highlighting its impact on development in Africa through entrepreneurship. This foundation, the leading source of support for young African entrepreneurs, uses a unique method focused on bootstrapping, empowerment and networking across the continent.

The study highlights how the TEF, following the philosophy of Africapitalism of its founder, stimulates the private sector in the service of African development in search of social and economic returns. Since 2010, the foundation has invested more than $100 million, supporting more than 20,000 entrepreneurs and digitally connecting more than a million people, asserting its presence in every African country.

The case of TEF reveals the strategies adopted to overcome various challenges and highlights the importance of collaboration with international institutions to develop specialized programs. During a presentation at Harvard, Tony Elumelu highlighted the foundation's role in creating economic opportunities for young African entrepreneurs.

This study demonstrates the effectiveness of TEF's strategic philanthropy in promoting sustainable and inclusive development in Africa, suggesting how other organizations can learn from their model to address global challenges.
