GrammaTech Secures $1 Million in DARPA's AI Cyber Challenge
BETHESDA, MD - GrammaTech, Inc., a prominent cybersecurity and software development acceleration company, along with its team VERSATIL - composed of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Virginia researchers, has been announced as a victor in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)'s Artificial Intelligence Cyber Challenge (AIxCC) Small Business Track Competition. This recognition places GrammaTech's team among the top seven, awarding them $1 million and a place in the AIxCC Semifinal Competition (ASC).
The AIxCC is a two-year contest inviting top AI firms to collaborate with DARPA in safeguarding essential software through innovative AI technologies. With a prize pool of $29.5 million, the challenge emphasizes the development of AI systems to secure critical code amidst growing cybersecurity threats.
Capitalizing on its previous success in DARPA's 2016 Cyber Grand Challenge and its commercial tool Proteus, GrammaTech's approach integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance traditional static and dynamic analysis tools. The devised system aims at automatically identifying, analyzing, and patching vulnerabilities, contributing significantly towards achieving Secure-by-Design software environments.
The next phases of the AIxCC will unfold at DEF CON, with the semifinals scheduled for 2024 and the finals in 2025, where the winning team will claim a $4 million prize. GrammaTech's Chief Growth Officer, Ray DeMeo, accentuates this achievement as a testament to GrammaTech's enduring commitment and innovation in addressing complex cybersecurity challenges.
