Eurotunnel denounces an excessive increase in Business Rates in Great Britain

On November 20, 2025, Eurotunnel reacted to the announcement by the UK Valuation Office Agency of its plan to triple the taxable value used as the basis for Business Rates, thus increasing the charge by 15 million euros in 2026. The company considers this increase unjustified and confiscatory, threatening its investments in Great Britain.

Eurotunnel intends to negotiate with the authorities until the final decision in March 2026. If this increase is maintained, Eurotunnel plans to use all available legal means to defend its interests and the future of cross-Channel rail transport.

Eurotunnel denounces an unfair penalty compared to competitors who are taxed less and less compliant with social standards in France and Great Britain. The company is committed to protecting its rights under the 1986 Franco-British Concession.
