Geothermal Energy Gains Momentum: Minister Visit Highlights Arverne Group's Efforts

On January 2, 2025, Marc Ferracci, the French Minister for Industry and Energy, visited Arverne Group's geothermal drilling site at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. This visit comes after a public consultation on the Pluriannual Energy Program, emphasizing the French government's commitment to decarbonize heat, currently with only a quarter sourced from renewables.

Arverne Group showcased its geothermal doublet solution, involving two wells to harness Earth's natural heat. This system captures 74°C water from 1,800 meters deep, reinjecting it into the ground to produce 80 GWh/year of renewable heat. This initiative aims to provide continuous energy to Europe's second-largest airport.

Arverne's Chairman & CEO, Pierre Brossollet, emphasized geothermal energy's role in replacing imported fossil fuels and achieving energy transition. The visit marks a strong start to 2025 for promoting geothermal energy in France.
