GA-ASI Wins Contract to Build Collaborative Combat Aircraft for U.S. Air Force

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) has secured a contract to construct flight test articles of the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) for the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. This follows a successful preliminary design review and will involve design, construction, and testing under the existing CCA contract, expanding on initial developments.

The CCA, aimed at enhancing combat capabilities, incorporates modular designs and advanced technology to facilitate teamwork between unmanned and manned aircraft. The anticipated low-cost aircraft will sport modern sensors or weapons. GA-ASI recently showcased advancements with the maiden and subsequent flights of the XQ-67A CCA prototype under the Air Force’s LCAAPS program, indicating readiness for serial production.

Officials at GA-ASI laud the CCA’s potential to revolutionize U.S. Air Force operations, asserting its role in refining UAS development into a dependable, scalable force at reduced costs. Further tests on related models like the MQ-20 Avenger UAS are set to continue, advancing operational autonomy in collaboration with Air Force initiatives.
