First Phosphate discovers a large deposit of igneous phosphate in Quebec
First Phosphate Corp. announced the discovery of a high-quality igneous phosphate deposit on its Begin-Lamarche project, located in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region, Quebec. This discovery follows a drilling program comprising 99 holes totaling 25,929 meters.
Drilling revealed continuous phosphate mineralization over a length of 2,400 meters spread over three distinct zones. The Mountain and North zones show contents of more than 10% P2O5, extending over widths of up to 177 meters. A preliminary economic assessment will follow the ongoing resource estimate.
John Passalacqua, general manager of First Phosphate, said the results confirm expectations in an area favorable to mining logistics, located 70 km from the deep water port of Saguenay.
A multitude of drilling in the South Zone has also shown continuous widths of phosphate mineralization, reaching over 100 meters. The explored areas remain open at depth.
First Phosphate says these results are consistent with the Canadian Institute of Mining's mineral exploration best practice guidelines.
