ESPG Gears Science Park Portfolio Towards Sustainable Power Generation Achieving Significant CO2 Savings
Cologne, 11 July 2024: The European Science Park Group (ESPG), a property company specialising in science parks, has made notable progress in sustainably developing its portfolio. To date, photovoltaic systems have been installed on more than 40 per cent of its buildings. The parks now generate about 1.2 megawatts, saving around 760 tonnes of CO2 annually by producing 1,163 MWh of solar power.
Markus Drews, CEO of ESPG AG, stated, “As specialists in science parks, we aim to contribute to a sustainable transformation that promotes scientific research and innovation.” ESPG integrates ESG criteria throughout the life cycle of its properties, ensuring a consistent focus on sustainability.
This transition to green electricity marks a significant milestone for ESPG, with further solar installations in the pipeline. Plans include expanding e-mobility options and increasing energy efficiency measures to further optimise the energy mix. ESPG's long-term goal is to achieve a climate-neutral portfolio.
