Eimskip and Ernst Russ Joint Venture Orders Two Advanced Feeder Containerships

Hamburg, 4 September 2025 – The joint venture ElbFeeder, between Eimskip and Ernst Russ, has ordered two next-generation 2,280 TEU containerships from China Merchants Jin Ling Shipyard. Deliveries are slated for late 2028, enhancing the joint venture's fleet to nine vessels, with options for two more. These ships will be employed under a 10-year charter within the Eimskip Blue Line, connecting Reykjavik and Rotterdam.

Featuring dual-fuel propulsion and designed for North Atlantic conditions, the vessels promise compliance with future fuel transitions. This investment marks a significant step for Ernst Russ, reflecting their partnership with Eimskip and contributing to long-term project viability. ElbFeeder's expansion aims to bolster Iceland-Europe trades and secure steady revenue.
